First of all, thank you for taking part in our early development trials and for being patient with this beta release.
If this is your first time using broadband or you have previously used cable broadband (Telewest, Blueyonder, etc), you may need to purchase an ADSL modem before you begin. If you are switching from another ADSL provider, you will probably only need to change a few settings on your router, which can be accessed by any web browser (the address differs for manufacturers, but it is often http://192.168.0.1, http://192.168.1.1, or http://192.168.100.1 ).
You will need to change the login and password on your modem to the one given to you when you signed up for your Playlouder broadband account. The modem login will end with "_ply@dslconnect.co.uk" and the password will be the same as your playlouder.com account. If you do not have your login details, please view your broadband contracts, then click on "Manage billing and user details" then "Connection Help" to view your exact login and password.
Please refer to the instruction manual for specific instructions relating to your model of ADSL modem. You may find the following settings useful, though the terminology may differ between manufacturers.
Other Important Settings:
Additionally, each computer in your home network should be set up to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". You will only need to change this if you are having problems. In Windows XP, this can be checked by in Control Panel's Network Connections pane, and in Mac OSX, by going into System Preferences and clicking the Network pane and choosing "Using DHCP".
